I’m going to give you a brief overview of what a VPN is, what it does and why you need one in your digital life. I’ll show you how to use one, set it up and, in my view, the best allrounder on the market right now, (which is the one that I use!!!)

What is a VPN

Simply put, a VPN ( or virtual private network) is a piece of software that basically keeps what do online, a secret from anybody you don’t want to see it. I’m not just talking about some questionable internet search history if you get me!! Im talking about your emails, online passwords banking details, everything!!

The honest answer is no, if you can install a game on your device, be it Pc Mac, ipad or android then you can install a VPN:

Ok, for the uninitiated in the world of smart tech, a brief explanation into the basics of smart heating controls.

A Smart thermostat is an I.O.T ( internet of things) device that you can control remotely with an app on your phone, So say for instance you get off work early in the middle of winter and you’re thin my house is going to be freezing when i get home, you can fire up your App and switch your heating on so your house will be toasty warm when you walk through the door.

There’s a couple of main players that you might of heard of, Nest and Hive. Honeywell who have made thermostats in various guises for ions have also brought out a smart model. Lets get into to features, benefits and shortcomings of each one.

Nest by Google

Nest brag that this thermostat ‘can’ save you 60% on your yeary heating bills. Pretty bold claims if you’re asking me, possibly if you just turned your heating on at the end of September and left it on till May then yes I suppose that 60% could be achievable.

This is probably my favourite of all the smart heating controls and why I’ve listed it first on my best smart thermostat uk list

I don’t know about 60% but using this “learning” thermostat you will defo save money, as it will ‘learn’ your heating preferences in the first week you’re using it and then uses this pattern going forward.

the main feature I love about the Hive is the Geo-fencing, so say you rush out to work and leave your heating on, the Hive will send you a message telling you about the heating and giving you the option to turn it off. It can aslo tell when your coming home and make sure your house is nice and warm, although unless you work like 40 miles away and set the geo-locater according i doubt your house will be warm if you working 10 minutes drive away , if you get me., but i still love the idea of it. For that feature alone this makes it onto my best smart thermostat uk list.

As you can see from my feature list, i could of even highlighted that is a nice black colour!!

When it comes to sound, you have to remember the limitations of earbuds for their size alone, I mean over-ear headphones have physically bigger drivers so they deliver an acoustically better sound, but this is an acceptable trade-off when it comes to size and portability plus you don’t look like you’re talking down a 747 when walking down the street but that’s just me. Depending on your music tastes, different buds will service your needs differently, fir instance I’ve made it known here many times how much I love Apple products but despise Apple Air-pods! The sound is too top-end with zero bass for me.

So when you plug the case in with the buds inside the mains power will charge your buds and the case, say you use them on the way the work, your case will then charge them when they’re not in use whilst you’re busy working hard to buy more tech!!

You need our Over Ear headphones buyers guide 2023 to point you in the right direction, ear buds are great, they’re small, unintrusive, easy to carry and provide a decent sound considering the size.But ever now and then you just want to immerse yourself in sound and block out the world. You need a set of headphones. Lets see what you need to consider before throwing down your hard earn cash on some new cans.

For me this is the deal breaker, i could find some wireless, super light tricked out headphones but if the sound quality makes me want to rip off my own ears then it’s a hard no from me. Some power banks offer fast charging technologies, such as Quick Charge or Power Delivery, which can significantly reduce charging times for compatible devices.

Input Charging Speed:

Evaluate the input charging speed of the power bank. This determines how quickly the power bank itself can be charged. Look for power banks with higher input charging speeds, as they will require less time to recharge fully. 

 Portability and Size:

Consider the portability and size of the power bank. If you need a power bank for travel or daily use, choose a compact and lightweight model that easily fits in your bag or pocket. However, keep in mind that smaller power banks typically have lower capacity. Also bear in mind the weight if you plan to take it away abroad as the larger ones weigh quite a bit. Remember to check with your airline just in case they have restrictions on power banks for airline security.

Ensure that the power bank you choose has built-in safety features to protect your devices from overcharging, over-discharging, and short circuits. Beware buying too cheap, as in most tech categories, buy cheap buy twice as many reviews say after a while the cheaper power banks take forever to charge then provide a very poor charging experience, but as i said earlier check the reviews for actual user experiences.
